Run or walk on Friday 19 May, then retrace your steps on Saturday 2O May for a unique experience as you take in the Auvergne food scene on a pretty hike. This is a chance to enjoy the natural and cultural heritage and discover the communal ovens in the villages around Volvic.
As we walk from oven to oven, you’ll get to sample a menu made from local produce, cooked with passion by our volunteers.
From Volvic city center, you will take the Stations of the Cross leading to the famous statue of Notre-Dame de la Garde overhanging the city. You will continue your hike through Puy de la Bannière to reach the village of Tournoël. Your gastronomic experience will start at the bottom of the castle with a medieval aperitif.
Then, you will continue in the forest towards the hamlet of Beauvaleix to arrive at a plateau with an exceptional view on the Chaîne des Puys and the Limagne fault.
A few more steps and you will reach the typical village of Viallard to enjoy a well-deserved starter and admire the view of the Puy de Dôme.
After tasting the starter, your steps will lead you to the village of Moulet-Marcenat to taste a local main course.
Then, you will reach the village of La Coussedière to appreciate the diversity of our local cheeses and devour a gourmet dessert.
Bread baked in our ovens and local wines will enhance your dishes.
You will complete this fabulous Food Tour by a descent partly in the undergrowth through Les Cheires and the Puy de Chalard to reach the city center of Volvic where festive events will warmly welcome you.
