A unique experience and a fabulous volcanic crossing through the largest regional natural park in mainland France: the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Natural Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Its original concept and its out-of-standard features distinguish it from other races. The spirit of the Great Volcanic Crossing Experience® is based on mental commitment, team spirit and adventure, as well as shared sporting values and medium-range mountaineering skills.
This ultra-endurance event takes competitors on a 224 km and 8400 D+ long crossing of the Auvergne volcanoes, taking in some of the most iconic long-distance trails in five regions, including Monts Dômes, Monts Dore, Massif du Cézallier, Massif du Cantal and Plateau de l’Artense. This adventure race, where participants will be equipped with nothing more than a GPX-route road book to follow 95% of the long-distance trail sign-posts (red/white), requires a good sense of direction on and off the trail. The route offers a chance to discover the treasures and diversity of the different zones of the Auvergne Volcanoes Regional Nature Park.
The Great Volcanic Crossing Experience® will be completed in teams of two participants who must stay together throughout or solo
