Beyond an event mainly focused on the enhancement of an exceptional natural heritage, the VVX gives great importance to the preservation of the environment and implements an advanced approach in terms of sustainable development.
We assessed the first 2 editions, and during the 3rd edition, we committed to a process of progress, evaluation and measurement by including these actions in an eco-responsible charter. The objective is to continue our efforts in terms of sustainable material development.
OUR ACTIONS
Preservation of natural resources
Limitation of the use of disposable equipment in order to limit the production of waste
Organization of the sorting and waste recycling that could not be avoided
Implementation of educational activities around selective sorting and recycling
Use of durable and reusable marking on the various trails and hikes, which will be removed as soon as the last participants pass
Dematerialization of the communication, and sustainable distribution of paper media
Production of all paper communication media according to PEFC certification based on raw materials from renewable forests
To monitor the water consumption of our event – at the time of the showers – thanks to the installation of a device of 20 digital shower heads (which give the live follow-up of the consumption) of Amphiro WITH, in parallel, the organization of a challenge to limit drastically the waste
Preservation of biodiversity
Special attention in order not to disturb the ecosystems in place during the events, in particular the systematic consultation of the actors managing the territory in the definition of trail and hiking routes (LPO, PNRVA, Natura 2000, etc …)
Implementation of an eco-participation for all runners and hikers of the event intended to be donated to the Regional Natural Park of the Auvergne Volcanoes for the maintenance of the trail and hike paths of the event
Selection of marking materials for trail and hike routes based on their biodegradability (mainly wood and starch)
Choose a local catering based on seasonality, sustainable agriculture and low carbon impact via, in particular, the use of short production chains
Limitation of CO2 emissions
Organization of public parking and free shuttles for on-site access
Use of local service providers and partners to limit the trips involved
Valorization of the local and sustainable economy
SelectiOn of local suppliers favoring short production circuits
Valorization of social cohesion
Creation of a dynamic vector of social links, primarily involving city residents and local associations (CeCler, Avenir)
Proposing an accessible content to the greatest number thanks to a large variety of activities adapted to different age groups, and many free activities
Proposing a content promoting the expression of diversity and conviviality
